Your 2019 Fall Festival Guide

Fall means one thing to those of us in Bayou Country – Festival after Festival after Festival. Our weekends are packed with fun times for the whole family. Below is just a taste of the big fun getting started on the bayou.

Geocoinfest 2019 (SEPT 26-29, 2019)

Get ready for a weekend full of family, friends and outdoor adventure. Geocoinfest 2019 will be held in Houma, Louisiana’s Bayou Country this year. This event is a celebration of Geocoins, the reward for completing geocaching trails and tours. Come out to the Houma area for a weekend-long celebration of all things collectable, tradeable and trackable in the geocaching world. In addition to lab caches, new cache challenges and the established Houma Travel GeoTour, this weekend will include some amazing events including a pool party, a Mardi Gras experience and culminates with the See You Later, Alligator send off at the Greenwood Gator Farm.

Downtown on the Bayou (Sept 28-29)

Head to historic Downtown Houma for a weekend of local experiences. Downtown on the Bayou collects the best of local music, food and culture and puts it on display for everyone to enjoy. Grab a bowl of jambalaya while listening to swamp pop on Bayou Terrebonne – Perfection!

Voice of the Wetlands (October 11-13)

Experience the sounds of the Bayou Blues with Voice of the Wetlands Festival. The distinctive style of festival organizer, and multiple award-winning blues artist, Tab Benoit is on full display at this free, two stage, three day music festival. Known as a festival with a cause, the Voice of the Wetlands Festival not only brings amazing food, music and art to its patrons, but it also raises awareness of Louisiana’s coastal restoration efforts.

Rougarou Fest (October 26-27)

One of the most unique experiences you will ever have is attending Bayou Country’s Rougarou Fest! This family-friendly festival with a spooky flair celebrates the myths and legends of coastal Louisiana, with the werewolf-like creature of the Rougarou taking center stage. This event has racked up accolades such as being named one of USA Today’s Top 10 Costume Parties in the country and Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 events in October, and your family is sure to enjoy the costume contests, games, outstanding food, music and the one-of-a-kind parade featuring decorated boats, dancing witches and fully choreographed performance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

Southdown Marketplace (November 2)

Local products are on full display at this annual market. With over 300 vendors showcasing jewelry, clothing, wood crafts, original art, garden decor, seasonal products and more, you’re sure to take home a treasure. The food court at Southdown Marketplace is not to be missed – with local favorites such as jambalaya, fried catfish, beignets and their signature corn soup on the menu. Did we mention all of this takes place on the stunning grounds of Southdown Plantation and Terrebonne Museum!

Bayou Beer Fest (November 9)

This annual celebration of libation is South Louisiana’s premier beer event. Sample hundreds of craft beers, ciders and meads while supporting local veteran’s organizations. Delicious Louisiana food from Cannata’s Family Market will pair with your brews perfectly, while the sounds of traditional Cajun music do your soul well.
